Course description
The Inspiration Lunch Workshops are events organized for educational staff to get inspired in topics related to Technology Enhanced Learning, Blended Learning Design Approaches, Didactic Concepts, Diversity, and Inclusion.
The workshops take place on campus from 12:00 – 13:30 on weekdays.
Period 1
Recording educational videos at WUR
Date: Tuesday, 22 September 2026
Facilitators: Jesse van de Hulsbeek, Senna Tamminga
Discover WUR's video production facilities! In this hands-on workshop, you'll first discover how the educational media team helps you make awesome learning materials. Then, you'll explore the ins and outs of effective educational videos. And after a quick onboarding exercise, it's studio time. Feeling a bit anxious? Your studio operator will be there for you with coffee, a snack and some actionable presentation tips. You'll go home with a short video and an urge to book a spot for a follow-up session!
What if? Radical imagination and futuring

In this lunch meeting, we explore futuring and radical imagination as ways of engaging with emotions in the classroom, particularly when teaching about uncertainty, crisis, and difficult futures. Imagining otherwise can help students engage with emotions while also opening up possibilities beyond the present. Through the exchange of experiences and examples, including cli-fi (climate fiction), museums of the Future, and worldbuilding, we will reflect on how futuring can create space for hope, agency, and new ways of imagining the future.
How to make your lab practical more effective

Are you teaching a lab or field practical? Do you want to make your lab or field practical more effective, but don't know where to start? Or can you use some inspiration to get started? Then you are in the right place! Small adjustments can make a big difference.
During this workshop, you will discover the (sometimes) hidden steps in lab education. You will get tips that you can use to adjust your practical manual to support students to become researchers.

Educational and media experts will guide you towards a script with corresponding visuals on the topic you would like to address. Providing tools, tricks and shortcuts for both words and images, we’ll get you as close to the finish line as possible.
Teaching through art: Using art as a learning & teaching tool

In this lunch meeting, we explore art and creative methods as ways of engaging with emotions when teaching difficult topics such as climate crisis, conflict, violence, and inequality. Art can validate emotions, offer different ways of expressing knowledge, and create student agency through making, interpreting, and reimagining. We will exchange teaching experiences and discuss practicalities, including assignments and assessment, while exploring how art-based teaching can challenge assumptions about traditional ways of examination and assessment.

Making a difference: Action-oriented teaching for hope and agency
Date: Thursday, 12 November 2026
Facilitator: Elisabet Rasch, SIG Social Engagement and Emotions in Teaching
In this lunch meeting, we explore teaching practices that invite students to move towards action. We will exchange experiences with courses where students develop and carry out actions in real-life settings, such as acts of resistance, collaborations with social justice activists, or interventions around sustainability. Such approaches can strengthen students’ agency and empowerment, while offering ways to respond to complex real-life problems and counter feelings of hopelessness and despair. We will discuss practicalities, assessment, challenges, and ethics of action-oriented teaching.
H5P Game Map: A treasure hunt & E-Learning module
Date: Tuesday, 17 November 2026
Facilitators: Marjolein de Rijk, Mina Atia, Jolanda Soeting
In this workshop you will explore H5P Game Map tool and how to use it to create gamefied learning activities.
You will do that by learning about Gamefied Design, participating in a treasure hunt and checking an E-learning module.
Afterwards, we will guide you to create an H5P Game Map.

Bringing reflexivity into the classroom

In this lunch meeting, we explore reflexivity as a way of engaging with emotions and responsibility in teaching, particularly when working with complex issues such as climate crisis, inequality, and social injustice. Reflexivity can help students reflect on their own position, privileges, limitations, and responsibilities, while developing a more realistic sense of what they can (and cannot) change. Through exchanging teaching experiences, we will explore how reflexive practices can support agency, prevent feelings of overwhelming responsibility, and create space for hope.

Discover WUR's podcast production facilities! In this hands-on workshop, you'll first discover how (not) to use podcasts in your education. Then, you'll find out how to format your podcasts to sound professional and purposeful. And after a little preparation, you'll put on your headphones, hear that sweet WUR intro jingle and channel your radio voice to record a mini-podcast with your colleagues.
