Course description
Prerequisites & target group
You can only sign up if you already joined the workshop Start to Supervise BSc & MSc thesis students and supervised at least two BSc or MSc thesis students. The course 'Supervising BSc. & MSc. Thesis Students' used to be a two-day course, and is now split up in two separate parts: the workshop 'Start to Supervise' and as a follow-up this course.
This course is meant for teaching staff, Postdocs and PhD‘s who supervise BSc or MSc thesis students.
The preparation for this course takes around 3 hours.
Course description
The thesis is the final subject of the BSc and MSc programme; and in most cases the most important individual project of a student. Due to the importance and size of the project, the meetings between supervisor and student are more intense and personal compared to those contacts in courses. A good relationship between supervisor and student is therefore very relevant. Students expect certain behavior of their supervisor, but the supervisor also has expectations of his/her/then student. Questions about responsibilities for supervisor and student arise.
This course one-day course is a follow-up to Start to Supervise BSc & MSc thesis students. We introduce models about effective supervising thesis students, you exchange experiences, practice several communication skills, play out challenging situations and dig deeper on the topics that are addressed in the workshop Start to Supervise BSc & MSc thesis students.
